BROOKLYN ANDREWS

My name is Brooklyn Andrews, I am 17-years-old, and recently graduated from East High School. I am the Social Media and Marketing intern for Project IOWA.

When I first found out about the YouthWorks program I was very excited to learn about how to promote an organization and events. During the initial program training I learned about morals and responsibilities such as maintaining a positive mindset and helping others succeed. I think that it's important to display these in our everyday lives.

During my training I took the CliftonStrengths Test, where I answered a series of multiple choice questions and it determined my strengths and skills, and I discovered some new ones that didn't know I had.

My skills are Relator (base connections on genuine bonds), Responsibility (follows through and commits to tasks), Belief (finds meaning with direction and purpose), Intellection (thinks deeply and self reflects), and Arranger (a productive mindset that can be effective and flexible). I find it useful to know my skills because it gives me a better idea of who I am and how I can grow in different ways. I’m looking forward to displaying my skills at Project IOWA by organizing and marketing events, give new ideas, and build relationships.

Outside of Project IOWA I enjoy time with my family and friends. I also take joy in expressing my creativity through art such as painting, makeup, and hair.

Project IOWA has helped me and will continue to guide me on the right path by giving me the knowledge of what it's like working with other organizations and how to network.

In the future, I would like to have my own business where I provide beauty services, manage and sell my own products, and hold classes to help others learn skills they might not even know they have.

I will continue to be passionate about my goals, and will always be very grateful for the YouthWorks program and Project IOWA. Being an intern for Project IOWA is something I'm proud of and will continue to mention throughout my whole life.
